La demanda de estos productos en Europa también ha contribuido a que España se haya convertido en el líder europeo del sector de los subtropicales. Esto se debe especialmente a la producción de mango y, en menor medida, de chirimoyo.
Por el momento la demanda de estos productos con origen español no es tan grande. Al no haber mercado las producciones se retrasan. A pesar de que las frutas se podrían desarrollar en invernaderos, según los expertos lo difícil sería dar salida a esas variedades.
